The OSPF Router ID (RID) is a seemingly simple concept, but for your CCNA and CCNP exams - as well as working in production networks! - you need to understand the default settings, how to change those defaults, and what you need to do in order to have your OSPF RID changes take effect!
Most of the time, you don't really need to do anything on a Cisco router or switch to make a change take effect - but this is not one of those times!
