Answers:

1. "B". The clockrate has to come from the DCE.

If you're working with directly connected serial interfaces on Cisco routers and attempt to put the clockrate command on the DTE, you'll get a console message telling you to put it on the DCE instead.

 

2. The RFC 1918 private address ranges:

10.0.0.0 /8

172.16.0.0 /12

192.168.0.0 /16

Note that these masks are *not* the network masks for those particular classes.

 

3. "D". All of the other three choices are viable, but none of them are on by default.

 

4. "B". The command show controller will tell you which end of the DTE/DCE cable is connected to that interface, but it won't tell you what encapsulation type is in use. show interface will give you all of that information.

 

5. "B, C". HDLC is the default encapsulation, but it doesn't support PAP or CHAP. PPP does, though.

 

6. "E". Both the physical and multipoint subinterface types can use the frame map command. Point-to-point subinterface can't use that command.

 

7. "C". You'll get a message telling you that this particular command must be configured on the DCE.

 

8. "D". The name is the recipe! PAT = Port Address Translation.

 

9. The three main congestion notification values in Frame Relay are the BECN, FECN, and DE.

 

10. "B". While losing the other values might screw up (technical term) your Frame Relay config, only the loss of the LMI will actually cause the line protocol to drop.
