I post several of these a week, so bookmark my CCNA Practice Exam page, and let's get started with today's exam!
1. What's the default encapsulation type on a Cisco router serial interface?
2. You're running that default encap type on one end of a PTP connection, and PPP on the other end. You'll see the following when you run "show interface serial" -- fill in the blanks!
"Serial0 is _____ , line protocol is _____."
3. PPP supports which of the following?
Authentication via PAP and CHAP
Compression capabilities
Auto-adapting the other end of the PTP connection in case of an encap mismatch
Dial-in user callback
4. Of PAP and CHAP, which if either use encryption?
5. Let's throw in a little Frame Relay! What type of message serves as the keepalive for the frame relay connection?
Answers right after this brief, important message!

And now -- the answers!
1. The default encap type on a Cisco serial interface is a Cisco-proprietary version of HDLC.
2. The interface will be up and the line protocol will be down.
3. PPP supports PAP and CHAP, compression, and dial-in callback. It cannot automatically cause the other end of a mismatched connection to change its encap type, though.
4. CHAP uses encryption, PAP does not.
5. The keepalive is the famous LMI!
