CCNA Flash Card Practice Exam

OSPF

By Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933

It'll only take you a few minutes to take this challenging CCNA practice exam ...

... and since no choices are given, you really have to know your stuff to nail this one!

(Using no-choice questions in your study is a great idea --- makes multiple-choice questions seem easy!)

I post several of these a week, so bookmark my CCNA Practice Exam page while you're here, and let's get started with today's exam!

1. You're configuring OSPF over a hub-and-spoke network. Exactly where should you place the command ip ospf priority 0?

Include the correct config mode in your answer.

2. There are two different names by which the OSPF algorithm is commonly known. Give them both.

3. Name one type of OSPF network where neither a Designated Router nor a Backup Designated Router will be elected.

Extra credit: Name another type. : )

4. What's the default interval between OSPF hellos on a broadcast network?

5. What's the destination address for those Hello packets?

Answers right after this brief, important message!

And now -- the answers!

1. The command ip ospf priority 0 needs to be configured on the spoke routers - and that command goes on the interface that's participating on that network.

2. The SPF algorithm is also known as the Dijkstra algorithm.

3. You will not see a DR or BDR elected on an OSPF point-to-point or point-to-multipoint network.

4. OSPF Hellos are sent every 10 seconds on an OSPF broadcast network...

5. ... and, of course, that destination IP address is 224.0.0.5!
