CCNP ROUTE Practice Exam Questions:
Route Redistribution
When it works, route redistribution is a beautiful thing.
When it doesn't work, it's not just ugly, it's butt ugly.
To help you avoid that ugliness - and to help you pass the CCNP ROUTE exam, of course -- here's a practice exam on route redistribution fundamentals.
Let's get to the questions! (Answers are at the bottom of the page.)
1. Which protocols, if any, carry out automatic route redistribution between two processes of that same protocol running on the same router?
A. OSPF
B. EIGRP
C. RIP
D. All three of these
E. None of these
2. What is the default seed metric of RIP?
3. Which of the following route redistribution scenarios would require a seed metric to be configured?
A. RIP into OSPF
B. OSPF into RIP
C. EIGRP into OSPF
D. OSPF into EIGRP
E. RIP into EIGRP
F. EIGRP into RIP
4. On occasion, we'll need to give route redistribution involving RIP a bit of a push by emptying the route table of all dynamically learned routers, thus forcing an update. What command will do that, regardless of the protocols involved?
5. Consider the following redistribution config:
R1(config)#router ospf 1
R1(config-router)#redistribute connected
% Only classful networks will be redistributed
What single word on the end of the redistribute connected command will allow non-classful networks to be redistributed?
Answers right after this brief, important message!

And now... the answers!
1. (E). Of OSPF, EIGRP, and RIP, none of them carry out any kind of automatic route redistribution between processes of the same protocol running on a single router.
2. RIP has no default seed metric. So you better give it one. : )
3. (B, D, E, F). When redistributing routes into EIGRP or RIP, you'll need to specify a seed metric. OSPF has a default seed metric of 20.
4. To clear a routing table of all dynamically learned routes, run clear ip route *.
5. You'll need the all-important subnets option on the end of that command.
