CCNP SWITCH Practice Exam:
VLANs
By Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933
Here's a Flash Card practice exam on VLANs for you CCNP candidates ... let's get right to it!
Answers are at the bottom of the page! And when you're done here, tackle the other tutorials, practice exams, and Video Boot Camps on my CCNP SWITCH 642-813 Exam Training page..
.. and there's over an hour of free CCNP SWITCH training elsewhere on this page!
1. When a switchport successfully receives a dynamic VLAN assignment, what other common Cisco switchport feature is activated for that port?
2. When using VMPS, what value determines the VLAN membership?
3. You've just run show vlan and note some active ports on your switch aren't appearing. What command is most likely to show you those missing ports?
4. Of ISL and dot1q, which are point-to-point protocols?
5. What command would change a port's native vlan to VLAN 100?
We'll get to those answers right after this brief - and VERY important - message!

And now.. the answers!
1. Our old buddy portfast is enabled automatically on a port when it receives a dynamic VLAN assignment.
2. Dynamic VLAN memberships are dependent on the port's MAC address.
3. Try show interface trunk -- if ports aren't in a VLAN, they're likely trunking. (I hate "most likely" questions, too, just thought I'd throw one in. ;) )
4. They're both trunking protocols, and that makes them both point-to-point protocols.
5. That would be the slightly longwinded command switchport trunk native vlan 100.
Great work!
